Goodreads Choice Awards 2016

Every year, Goodreads – thé social media platform for readers and booklovers – hosts the Choice Awards where Goodreads members can vote on the best book of the year. As they describe it themselves, it’s “the only major book award decided by readers.” Goodreads chooses the top 20 new released books in several categories and you can start voting as of November 2nd. In 2015, over 3 million people cast their vote, you can check out the winners here.

Below is a list of the 20 categories in which Goodreads has proposed 20 final nominees for the best books of the year 2016. I’ve also included the book that I voted for. Obviously I didn’t read all of these books, so sometimes I voted based on the cover or the author, don’t shoot me!

2016 is the eight time that the Goodreads Choice Awards are being held. Check out the previous winners here: 2009 (unknown amount of voters), 2010 (129,844 votes cast), 2011 (638,603 votes cast), 2012 (1,156,852 votes cast), 2013 (1,953,770 votes cast), 2014 (3,317,504 votes cast), 2015 (3,007,748 votes cast). So, what are you waiting for? Go vote for the 2016 edition right now! Are your favourites amongst the nominees? Let me know in the comments!

Happy reading (and voting),

Loes M.
