New releases: May 2018 – romance

Post 371

May is one of those special months with 5 Wednesdays. That means 5 chances to look at the top 5 of new releases as determined by our favourite social network Goodreads. So, for the fourth Wednesday (which is today), I will take a look at the romance genre. I feel like swooning a little! Will you join me?

  1. The Seduction Expert by Saya Lopez Ortega (The Seduction Expert #1)
    Publication date: May 27th, 2018
Imagine years spent in her company, during which she challenges the biggest heartbreakers… Years of analyzing, tracking and well-deserved revenge. All motivated by a single promise: to change the lives of all those women calling upon her services. A few women would swear that The Seduction Expert changed their lives. She is an iron hand in a velvet glove, a woman of honour, dressed in a designer suit. She is the Wonder Woman of modern times who owns Gucci shoes and Burberry coats. She is the kind of woman of action who brings emotional turmoil. Get her card, it’s much better than spending holidays in St Barth!
  2. I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting (Shacking Up #3)
    Publication date: May 29th, 2018
SHE’S GOT CURB APPEAL. Rian Sutter grew up with the finer things in life. Spending summers in The Hamptons was a normal occurrence for her until her parents lost everything years ago. Now Rian and her sister are getting their life, and finances, back on track through real estate. Not only do they buy and sell houses to the rich and famous, but they finally have the capital to flip their very own beachfront property. But when she inadvertently catches the attention of a sexy stranger who snaps up every house from under her, all bets are off… HE’S A FIXER UPPER. Pierce Whitfield doesn’t normally demo kitchens, install drywall, or tear apart a beautiful woman’s dreams. He’s just a down-on-his-luck lawyer who needed a break from the city and agreed to help his brother work on a few homes in the Hamptons. When he first meets Rian, the attraction is undeniable. But when they start competing for the same pieces of prime real estate, the early sparks turn into full-blown fireworks. Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance — without burning down the house?
  3. How to Walk Away by Katherine Center
    Publication date: May 15th, 2018
Margaret Jacobsen has a bright future ahead of her: a fiancé she adores, her dream job, and the promise of a picture-perfect life just around the corner. Then, suddenly, on what should have been one of the happiest days of her life, everything she worked for is taken away in one tumultuous moment. In the hospital and forced to face the possibility that nothing will ever be the same again, Margaret must figure out how to move forward on her own terms while facing long-held family secrets, devastating heartbreak, and the idea that love might find her in the last place she would ever expect. How to Walk Away is Katherine Center at her very best: an utterly charming, hopeful, and romantic novel that will capture readers’ hearts with every page.
  4. Someone to Care by Mary Balogh (Westcott #4)
    Publication date: May 1st, 2018
Two years after the death of the Earl of Riverdale, his family has overcome the shame of being stripped of their titles and fortune—except for his onetime countess, Viola. With her children grown and herself no longer part of the social whirl of the ton, she is uncertain where to look for happiness—until quite by accident her path crosses once again with that of the Marquess of Dorchester, Marcel Lamarr. Marcel Lamarr has been a notorious womanizer since the death of his wife nearly twenty years earlier. Viola caught his eye when she herself was a young mother, but she evaded his seduction at the time. A prize that eluded him before, she is all the more irresistible to him now although he is surprised to discover that she is as eager now for the excitement he offers as he is himself. When the two defy convention and run away together, they discover that the ties of respectability are not so easily severed, and pleasure can ensnare you when you least expect it.
  5. Hot Asset by Lauren Layne (21 Wall Street #1)
    Publication date: May 22nd, 2018
Ian Bradley is the definition of a Wall Street hotshot: seven-figure salary, designer suits, and a corner office. His drive off the floor is just as potent. Every woman who knows him has felt the rush. But now he’s met his match in Lara McKenzie—a woman with the power to bring Ian to his knees. An ambitious, whip-smart daughter of FBI agents, Lara is a rising star in fighting white-collar crime. Her latest case—the investigation of Ian Bradley for insider trading—could make her career. She knows a scoundrel when she sees one. Ian fits the bill: a cocky, ridiculously handsome bad boy with a slick swagger. She’ll do anything to prove he’s guilty. He’ll do anything to prove he’s not. But it’s only a matter of time before their fierce battle of wits gets oh so hot and personal. Now, taking down Ian has become more than business for Lara. It’s become a pleasure—and there’s more at risk than she ever dreamed.

These books can get me swooning for sure! I’d read all of them, except for the third book. I don’t like books filled with drama like this – because I will cry. I’m an easy crier when it comes to drama in books and movies, so I’ll just skip this one! Other new releases of May 2018 can be found by genre right here on Goodreads.

Happy reading,

Loes M.
