FACTS is like Comic-Con, home of everything Fantasy, Anime, Comics, Toys, Sci-Fi, Games and Cosplay. It’s the biggest geek and nerd family of the Benelux, with thousands of like-minded individuals. It took place in Ghent during the weekend of 29 and 30 September 2018.
The decoration and Star Wars set-up was amazing:
Of course there was a lot of cosplay:
Of course there are always contests and performances for the cosplayers at the FACTS convention. Here are two videos of my favourites:
And of course, I was dressed in Harry Potter-style! I’m a Hufflepuff, so I bought one of those iron-on Hufflepuff patches for on my plain black coat. I also ordered a Newt Scamander wand online, and matched it off with a yellow light sweater and my Hufflepuff scarf. And my friend wore her Ravenclaw costume.
Aaaaaand, we got a picture with a very important person:
Yes, Tom Felton was the main big guest at the fall Facts convention in Ghent. He also gave a Q&A:
And of course, being in our Harry Potter costumes, we had to stop by all the Harry Potter booths. The Belgian Quidditch Federation was there and had a small quidditch field set up. The national quidditch team was also present. The Belgian Gryffins were fresh of their silver medal win at the world championships in Italy a few weeks earlier. They talked about their training, the championships and how they combine Quidditch and their regular lives. Here are a few pictures:
The Saturday we were there, there was another event going on at the same time as well: the Robot Wars world competition final. We didn’t stick around to watch that, but here’s a quick snapshot:

And of course, I couldn’t go home with some serious loot!
Doctor Who surprise pack Zelda for Wii Funko pops Dobby Newt Scamander Baby Niffler
I had so much fun! I can’t believe I’ve never been to any of these events before. And there was sooooo much Harry Potter! I saw Potterheads everywhere, in between the Harry Potter booths and loot. So many Potter cosplayers, I was proud to be one of them. I’m definitely going back next year! And I also found the perfect partner, my Ravenclaw friend loves all of that as much as I do. Because most of my other friends aren’t big fans like me, or they are into completely different fandoms.
Have you been to events like this before? I’d love to hear about your experiences and cosplay!
Happy reading,
Loes M.
