The Midnight Library – Matt Haig

This was a weird book. I don’t have any other way of saying it. Just plain weird! And I have no idea if I like it or not. I also don’t know how to feel having finished it.

The book basically deals with the “what ifs”. Every time you made a decision in your life, what if you had made another one? The main character, Nora, (almost) dies and ends up in a library. The Midnight Library. There she gets to visit all the versions of her life if she had made those decisions differently. There is a suggestion of her having the choice of staying in one of them, or keep on going back. Eventually, she goes back to her own life and decides to stop feeling sorry for herself, shape up and improve herself and her life. She looks beyond herself, focusses on those around her and is ready for the rest of her life.

If you have some time and want to dive into a book that you really need to focus on (and best to read in one go), then this is a book for you!

Happy reading,
