Post 198.0

Do you know a lot about literature? Have you read all the classics (either willingly or under pressure)? And do you enjoy spouting fun facts (because you like them or because you secretly want to look intelligent)? Well, then this is the quiz for you! Bookstr will give you 10 literary facts, up to you to find out whether they’re true or not!

  1. The title of Fahrenheit 451 was originally ‘The Fireman’
  2. Edgar Allan Poe originally used a parrot to say “nevermore” instead of a raven
  3. J. K. Rowling came up with the idea for Harry Potter on an airplane
  4. Ray Bradbury was a descendant of one of the Salem witches
  5. C.S. LewisChronicles of Narnia was originally called ‘The Tales of Aslan’
  6. As a child, Roald Dahl was a taste-tester for Cadbury’s chocolate
  7. Emily Dickinson secretly had a daughter with her local priest
  8. Charles Dickens believed in the supernatural and belonged to ‘The Ghost Club’
  9. Mary Shelley once referred to Frankenstein’s Monster as “Adam”
  10. J.R.R. Tolkien learned over 18 languages and invented languages for fun

My score? A 7/10, which I’m very proud of. I know the answer to the tenth question because I read The Lord of the Rings, which makes it very clear! I guessed number 9 right. I knew the answer to 8 because of Doctor Who. Number 7, 6, 5 and 4 were guesses (one of which I got wrong, the others right). Of course, I knew the answer to question number 3. And the first two questions, I guessed both of them wrong. So I’m very happy with all this guessing to arrive at a 7 out of 10.
