Harry Potter candy

During my weekly shop this past weekend, I came across these Harry Potter treats. I hadn’t tried them in a very long time, so I decided to buy them for myself! First, I found these Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans:

I haven’t had these for ages! I remember sneaking in my parents’ kitchen cabinets to eat these jelly beans. Back then, though, they had an exclamation mark on the ones that tasted badly. Always such fun telling your friends those were actually the good ones, and tricking them into eating the “bad” flavours. That’s no longer the case though. The good and bad jelly beans look exactly the same. So I amused myself by sorting them according to colour and then using the guide on the back to guess the flavours. The colours are quite similar, unfortunately, and I got many of them wrong. And the flavours have also become worse than I remembered.

And then I also bought myself a Harry Potter chocolate frog:

It was a little disappointing since it actually looked much yummier on the packaging. The chocolate itself wasn’t that great, which I feel I’m allowed to say as a Belgian (one of the biggest producers of chocolate worldwide). And of course, just like in the books (and movies), it came with a card:

Mine was of Albus Dumbledore. It has a shimmering 3D-effect to make it look more real, and the same explanation on the back as the one mentioned in the books. Which is such a fun detail! I think I remember also getting this card when I was young. Not sure how many different versions of these cards they made! I tried to Google it, but there were so many versions of this treat and of these cards made, that I couldn’t find out.

Any way, I had a lot of fun with these treats and the memories attached to them. I’ll definitely do it again in the future!

Happy reading,

Loes M.
